I subscribed to Tennis channel in order to be able to see the matches as they happen. I was sick of the major networks deciding what I should see.
Your coverage of the French Open suddenly degraded during the second week. Key matches were not shown and by the time you replayed them in your evening broadcast I already knew thje result which ruins everything. I don't even need to mention Wimbledon, your coverage was non existent in real time. ESPN and NBC seem to pre-empt your coverage, So what is the reason for subscribing to a premium channel if you are not able to provide coverage of the majors. Tennis channel should be able to broadcast matches even if they are on other networks, thats the meaning of a premium channel.
It would seem you are having a problem in getting broadcast rights with the various 4 Major Slams plus getting good commentary. I am reconsidering keeping my subscribtion to Tennis Channel on Direct TV
TC has done an excellent job with the French the past two years. It's Wimbledon coverage this year suffered from a troubling bout of Americanitis and apparently-afraid-to-be-sued gender equality. Nevertheless, the coverage was still comparatively excellent. For my money, though, the best coverage of tennis tournaments is reflected by TC's coverage of the Monte Carlo and Rome Masters tournaments. The coverage is wall-to-wall, with good replays at evening hours for us working stiffs who cannot watch during the day and do not have Tivo, etc. Futher, the commentary is very good, and the overall cinema verite style simply unbeatable. Kudos to TC and ATP for bringing this brilliant scene of tennis to American TV.
