Perhaps I misunderstood something. I woke up early this morning to see a men's semi as implied on ESPN, only to find they could NOT show it at this time and are instead showing the Williams' doubles match. Nothing against the Williams', but I was very disappointed that the Rafa semi isn't being televised live. I believe Luke Jensen (sp) said they MIGHT show some of it, time permitting.Was anyone else expecting live coverage of the men's semi this a.m? (7:00 Central).
I was expecting live coverage also. The guide show that semifinal coverage is to be on, only to find out they can't show the matches until midnight eastern. That is total BS. It's a holiday, I'm sure there were many avid tennis fans off today looking forward to the matches. That is the problem in this country. It's all about money and screw the consumer.
There was a step forward this year with multi court coverage of Wimbledon only to ruin it all with this fiasco today.
Even the womens second semi was taped delayed yesterday. Any tennis fan is going to check the internet for the current scores. I won't watch anything when I already know the result. It takes out the excitement.

Yes, I was expecting the semifinals match as well. But usually this is what happens at the end of the Major scheduled live events. NBC was scheduled to show both semi's but was unable to show it live because it would diminish ratings to show live events at 6 or 7 am on the NBC network..So they move it to a mid-day time slot and bogart ESPN from showing or talking about the matches. It's all about ratings. Its the dark side of the TV rating battles. So instead they (espn) show doubles to fill time. Its embarrassing for the network. Fans wanna see it live. Or if your cable bill isn't high enough. You can always go online and watch it through the tournaments site for a daily fee of course..
