Dont get me wrong those rankings are not that bad, but these guys are commentating masters series tournaments where the best of the best play. Especially Goodall has only negative things to say about almost any guy except Nadal and Federer. Its horrible commentary no credibility at all. Why do think Goodall has never coached any good players on tour? Get this idiot off the Tennis Chanell.

ok genius, you completely missed my point. I wouldn't care what goodall's ranking was, if he was a good commentator. he is a typical arrogant british snob. Even John Mcenroe doesn't provide such negative commentary. Listening to Goodall is absolutely horrible. every word out of his mouth is negative.
no, i did get your point. aamof, as of recent, more often than not goodall and adler sound like they're blowing sunshine up fedex's or rafa's ass while berating playing lower ranked players. but who cares. brit commentators can be arrogant jerks, and even the 'great' john barrett had a period of being overly negative on american players. but then again, he balanced it by dumping on british players, including fellow countryman henman, for the obvious failure to win the big W.
apparently YOU haven't seen much tv; there was a period when goodall was clearly anti-federer during one of his hottest runs about a year and half ago. btw, can you surely attest to fact that neither have coached at all? you'd be surprised how many lower ranked (below 200's) ex-pros have coached, but don't boast it, and are tv commentators in other countries. anyways, while coaching is a plus for any broadcaster, being a good communicator (whether negative or positive) is what really counts.
i can take any commentator's (excessive) negative or positive commentary cuz it's their choice and style. it's better than the colorful commentary of non-tennis players like *** enberg, tim ryan or bill macatee.
my take is that as long as the limit their babble to just between points i'm fine with it. though, there are times that the pair seem to be 'americanizing' their tv presence by babbling DURING points.
so chill it on goodall and adler cuz there they're the tennis commentators supplied by eurosport network, not TTC.
no goodall and adler work for atpmastersseries.tv, they are internet commentators. They don't work for eurosport.

I disagree. I think they're doing a fine job covering several matches day after day, week after week. Their delivery is knowledgeable and understated, in my opinion.
What is it exactly that you don't like about them? If it is their records as pros I've heard them say numerous times that they were no great shakes themselves. That, however, doesn't necessarily preclude them from being astute commentators.
Leif Shiras and Barry McKay would do well to emulate them. Not to mention Gimelstob! I still don't understand how he was simply anointed as a commentator.
