Typical serve coverage goes as follows: Close-up of the server's face, continued view of the server's front as the ball is tossed into the air, then mid-swing the camera view shifts to whole-court view (from the server's back) for the remainder of the point.
If you're trying to learn the finer points of the professionals' serves, this coverage will drive you crazy. Yes, the close up conveys a personal side of the player. Yes, that facet of TV will keep the occasional tennis viewer tuned in, perhaps, and that helps sell advertising time. But some (perhaps most) of the Tennis Channel's viewers are serious players, and we watch, in part, to learn from the pros.
Please occasionally include a view of the serve, in its entirety, from the SIDE. We can then tell how far into the court the ball is being tossed for the different types of serve, by each of the pros. Please also include slow motion coverage of this like is done for the ground strokes, volleys, and overheads.
