    Justin Gimelstob

Brad Gilbert lite:  as talktative but content not close to the quality that Gilbert could produce.

Yo Gimelstob!  You owe Barry MacKay an apology, not to mention the viewers.  MacKay referred to Andy Murray as a Brit today and you attempted to correct him by referring to Murray as a Scot.  Well pal, you're wrong.  Murray is Brit AND a Scot.  Scotland is part of the British Isles which makes him British.  Murray is not English and he's British.  Get it?  Try listening a bit more than yakking.  You'll take less hits like this one.

Justin Gimelstob - I understand you played on the tour and have made a career out of your experiences. However, can you please find something else to do and leave the commentating to John McEnroe and Martina Navratilova? I can't stand the way that you act like you're best friends with all the American players. I don't really care that you're going to go have dinner with Robby Ginepri - I hope you have a nice meal in Paris, but it seems like you're just trying to look cool. Furthermore, when John McEnroe has something to say about a tennis match - please listen instead of arguing with him! He has the experience and knowledge to accurately and objectively comment about a match, whatever you may think about him personally. Instead, you just talk about all your American tennis buddies and how they are all so good! Stop trying to be one of the American players and comment on matches objectively. It seems that you just want to be "in" with all the American players so you'll look popular. You may be friends with them - good for you, but I care more about the tennis. It looks sad and desperate. Please be objective to all players!!

Justin Gimelstob, do not mind these comments above; you are doing fine!

They have nothing else to do but to trash you!  There is nothing as good as an inside story of each of the players.  Since you have just finished the tour yourself, Justin; you have the insight and the relationships to the players that tennis fans can view through your insight and connections to each of the tour player's knowledge and the tour itself.  What better for tennis fans then an inside look at the tennis tour through an insider!

I think Justin is doing a great job. I love it when he in the commentator. He is very respectful to the viewers and makes it a point to be quiet during the points.  I like the way he interacts with Martina too.  He doesn't back down to her at all like the other males do when she gets snappy towards men (I love you Martina).

    Keep it up!

Justin, keep up the good work. You add a lot to the broadcast, you know the game and the "current" players, unlike a former #1 from NY. While you may not have made the top 10 as a player, you are already there as a commentator.

Sorry but I can't condone Gimelstob's behavior and his recent rant which prompted the apology he has recently issued here.

In a radio interview he went on and on about how some female players are "sexpots" and about women he has known "biblically", as well as calling Ana Kournikova a "***", "stupid", talking about his brother "nailing her", as well as many other comments of a similar nature the offensiveness of which one can't comprehend just by reading the apology.

My opinion is that he should be fired. "Sorry" is not enough when he has proven that he is not worthy of sitting alongside legends like Martina and McEnroe, and when there are so many who would do a much better job, plus show due respect.

    Re: Justin Gimelstob

Already a sport that has lost great interest since the 1970's, tennis is constantly diminishing any value it has left when the channel dedicated to tennis, doesn't even hire broadcasters with any professional experience or at the very least "professionalism." Justin Gimelstob has absolutely no place being a broadcaster on the Tennis Channel just because he had a sub par professional career. Do you want to hear the insight on an NFL game from the guy who sat the bench on the Arizona Cardinals? If you look at all the other credible networks, they hire broadcasters who have substantial professional experience in the field, or by themselves were legends at what they did. Not only are his remarks offensive, but they have an element of high school. You know those guys who made fun of you because of their insecurities and ended up the janitor at McDonald's. Anyways the major point of this post is to make clear the message that the Tennis Channel relays to the public as to their operations. First, by hiring unqualified people they are showing the biggest reflection of themselves. You know that old saying "tell me who your with, and I'll tell you who you are" this is the perfect example. Maybe the executives who think they run a company pretty good aren't as clever as they think they are. If they hired him in the first place the apple probably doesn't fall far from the tree. Secondly, Now they send the best message of all by saying your mistakes are justified if you "DONATE MONEY". I think it's a good example to the people that sh*t everythings ok as long as you pay the proper people. Sure make derrogatory comments, it doesn't matter as long as you have enough cash to fork it over. Lastly, if you notice how much more men's coverage they provide then women's. Certainly the opinions are not just reflected by Gimelstob but by the entire Tennis Channel Network. If tennis is to start gaining respect they must take a stand when people act in this manner.

OK people. Take a deep breath. Now exhale. Feel better? I hope so. Justin's comments were obviously schtick for this radio broadcast. How many times have we heard these types of rants? I don't know...hundreds of times. Maybe more? You act like this is the first time your virgin ears have ever picked up on this type of rhetoric. Howard Stern, Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Jim Cramer, Charles Barkley, John McEnroe. Heck, even Johnny Miller, the golf analyst. They all rant and rave every time they are on their respective programs. Ever wonder why they are hired and have their contracts renewed? Because they are good at what they do and they tell it like it is (like it or not). Justin is just another in a long line of funny, honest, expert (I’ve heard some of you criticize him for never winning…how many of you would give your left arm to play professional sports for 13 years?) broadcasters to come along. Let’s face it, Tennis is not the #1 American sport. Not by a long shot. The Tennis Channel is trying to broaden the sport by bringing in expert, opinionated, humorous, controversial broadcasters to the air. This is what sells in television these days. It gets people talking and then hopefully brings more to the network coverage. I for one would rather listen to Justin’s or Johnny Mac’s comments than Drysdale (no offense, Cliff) or whoever else is out there calling it straight down the middle. If you have listened to Justin over the years you know what you are going to get. He pulls no punches. He obviously got carried away and made some strong comments. I have to believe he didn’t mean anything by them and also accept his apology. I hope that you guys on this board can do the same. I always tell people, give Justin a chance, he’ll grow on you.

Ask ANY person born in Scotland what nationality they are and they will immediately say SCOTTISH. I'm sure Justin knows his geography because he has traveled the world ten times over so he has experienced many different cultures and nationalities. Scots are proud people and most, if not all, still wish they were separate from England.

Gimelslob is a pig! If the Tennis Channel does not fire him this will be my last entry into TC.com!

He is so annoying in the first place. He seems not to have clear mind when he talks. It sounds like he is on drugs most of the time or have bad hangover. The guy have difficulties to focus on the topic and it is annoying. Good comentator or tennis champion deserve a break when they screw up.

Give me a reason Gimelstob must have a brake, must have a job.

Oh now we cannot fier Giommelstob. He is so great, so good.

He is our man. Comrads defend our pig. He is a pig but our pig so he has to stay.

I can think of any number of "insiders" I'd rather listen to than Gimelstob starting with Boris Becker who at least won a gs title in singles. Gimelstob has the mistaken impression that anything he has to say is more important than a point being played while he talks over it. Sheesh!
